New Butterfly Display Cases Added

posted Mar 23, 2011 9:31 PM by ray pena

Some of our clients have been kind enough to send pictures of their installed butterfly cases. While the butterfly displays are not "new work", they are rather recent, having been produced within the last few years.  Two different butterfly cases have been added: one is a monochromatic black and white case measuring 18" x 24" composed entirely of Idea Blanchardi butterflies from the Philippines; the second is a colorful collage composed of various species of moths and butterflies from around the world measuring 12" x 36".  To see the installed pictures in context follow this link: Installed Cases. To see the actual cases close up please follow this link: Custom Designs.  For both links you will need to scroll to the bottom to see the new butterfly displays recently added.  Both links only have the new images added but descriptions are soon to follow for these butterfly/moth cases.

How we make our butterfly cases

Are you curious as to how we make these acrylic butterfly display cases? Well we have just added a section that hopefully will satisfy your curiosity.  It is not an all encompassing dissertation on the entire process, but it is a brief explanation, sans the proprietary techniques.  Our competitors would love to be able to catch a glimpse of the specialized processes we have worked so very hard to perfect.

Regardless here is the link to The Process as best we can describe it without letting other framed butterfly display makers see the technical details we have perfected.

The Most Common Question

posted Mar 16, 2011 8:22 PM by ray pena

One of the most common question people ask is "what made you decide to do this for a hobby (or a living)?"  I have always given the same answer in different forms, "...I kind of lucked into it".  I finally decided to post a page that exactly describes how I started doing the butterfly and insect mounting and preservation within the acrylic display cases.  But most importantly it describes why Custom Butterfly Art continues and WILL continue to produce these works of butterfly art.  If you are interested please check it out here at Our History.

Installed Butterfly Cases Section Added

Custom Butterfly Art has now added a new section: Installed cases.  Seldom do we get to install or see cases once installed.  This section has the few images we were able to get from our customers (or photographed ourselves) of pieces installed.  If you are a Custom Butterfly Art customer and have a picture you would like to share, please contact us. We would enjoy sharing your images. To see the installed cases section look for it in under the product catalog.  Descriptions will be posted shortly.

Stay tuned!
